Personal safety and social responsibilities. STCW section A-VI/1-4

About The Course
A classroom-based course covering basic induction training in safety procedures and accident prevention, it also familiarises novices with the employment conditions and working environment on board.
This course is part of the mandatory Basic Safety training for all seafarers with designated safety duties. The mandatory Basic Safety training courses also include: Personal Survival Techniques, Elementary First Aid, Fire prevention and fire fighting.

Target group 
All seafarers, from sailor to captain, who want to sail as professional should have followed the training STCW PSSR Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities. All recreational Yachtmasters who want their full Commercial Endorsement. There are no prerequisites.

Course Objectives

  • To provide a general introduction to Personal safety and social responsibilities issues when alongside, at anchor and at sea.
  • To enable all seafarers to meet the minimum standard of competence in Personal safety and social responsibilities outlined in the the STCW Convention Table A-VI/1-4 and the IMO Model Course.
Structure
The course consists of: Lectures

Course Contents
  • be familiar with emergency procedures
  • work safely aboard
  • understand and execute “standing orders”
  • respect for rules on maritime pollution
  • importance of good communication on board
  • usefulness of safety drills
  • control and use of safety equipment
  • knowing the rules related to the use of drugs and alcohol
  • understanding of human relationships
Course Duration
8 Guided Learning Hours (GLHs) are required to complete the course. 

Venue
This course is arranged by C.O.S Crew Management s.r.o. in Seafarers Training Center, Palachova 29, Podebrady.

Certification
On successful completion of the course, Ministry of Transport Czech Republic will issue a Certificate of Proficiency.
Certificate is usually to be issued within 7-10 working days after completion of the course. The original of Certificate can be received in Maritime Department of Ministry of Transport.

To obtain a Certificate, student has to bring to Course Administrator a photo of the size rquired for pasport and one stamp for CZK 200. In case you have booked all four Basic Safety courses, the only one stamp is required and one Certificate containing all four courses will be issued.
